Warrior(ess)

I am not sure if this is an actual word or not, but it should be. I conquered the Warrior Dash this weekend at Afton Alps in the 90+ degree weather. Can we say brutal! But with that I think I earn the name of WARRIORESS.
Many people did the race as a team, but I chose to sign up and run on my own to prove to myself that I could do it. There were 12 obstacles including hanging tires, things to climb over & under, balance beams, water slide, water sprays, fire, and a mud pit. The most difficult thing about the race besides the weather being so hot, was that the course went up the ski hill 3 different times! I think it is almost impossible to "run" up a ski hill. But either way I made it through!

The last obstacle was the mud pit!
Look I had one spot on my ankle that was "clean" right where the tongue of my shoe was.
The snow machines were used to clean off after the race.

Breakfast on the Farm

The main reason we were in Appleton for the weekend was to go to the "Breakfast on the Farm" with Dave, Jan, Kim, and Logan. Since both Brad & Logan are all about tractors and farm equipment they were in farm heaven for the morning. In addition to a wonderful farm cooked breakfast there was so much to do and see.

The boys enjoying the tractor/wagon ride

One of the many tractors they climbed into
So cute ~ The boys in the tractor tire.
Camdyn enjoyed the farm fresh icecream
Grandpa & Bradley enjoyed the chocolate icecream.. along with some funny faces!

Flag Day Fun

I am not sure how many people realize that there is a holiday to celebrate our nations flag. June 14th is Flag Day and Appleton, WI has one of the longest & largest Flag Day parade in the nation. Pretty Cool, huh?!?   Ever since I was young I remember going to the parade and then in high school I marched in the parade as part of the Appleton West Band. Pretty Cool, huh?!?  Yeah....right... (said with a little sarcasm).
Anyway, this year we were in Appleton the weekend that the flag day parade was held. It was a hot one for the parade this year... about 90 degrees. But with some make shift shading and some cool drinks we were still able to enjoy all the parade had to offer. Of course, Brad's favorite part was the bands and the emergency vehicles. Although somewhat funny he gets a little scared when they have their sirens blaring. Here's a few fun pictures from the day.

IASA Conference

This week was the annual IASA (Insurance Accounting & Systems Association) Conference that I attend for work. My first time away from Camdyn and although I was much looking forward to uninterrupted sleep for a few days, Jon was not looking forward to my absence around the house hold.

This year the conference was held in SanDiego,CA and instead of just sending 2 or 3 people from our department BMS sent 8 of us from the company. One of the main reasons was that we were sponsoring the executive round table sessions so we received 2 free round table attendances and the other being some of our brokers realize how many of our clients and prospects were going to be in attendance. It turned out to be a fun, but really busy conference between attending the keynote speakers, technical sessions, meeting with clients, and hitting up some of the sponsored events.

On Monday night a company called ISCSsponsors a large event, typically in a unique location and typically with good food and entertainment. This year their event was held inside the Padres baseball stadium with a concert on the field by CCR (Credance clearwater revisited). I was super cool to be hanging out and checking out the field from that vantage point.  This event even included fireworks after the concert was finished.

The Tuesday night event was held in the convention center and put on by the IASA. Although the entertainment was not overly exciting (Herman's hermits and Paul Revere &the Raiders)I enjoyed it as it was music from my childhood. (Thanks mom &aunt Pam) My colleague thought it was so funny that I knew all the words to many of the songs.
