Graduation Weekend

This weekend we were down in Waseca for Megan's high school graduation ceremony and party. The party was on Saturday and there were a lot of people who stopped over to wish her congratulations on her accomplishments. Sunday was her official high school graduation ceremony, although for her she already has 2 years of college under her belt from attending Bethany in Mankato for post-secondary. Way to go Megan!

Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Mom & Dad visit on Memorial Day weekend

Its been awhile since I updated our blog that I almost forgot my parents visit from last weekend. We had a really nice weekend full of activities. Friday afternoon we went golfing in Edina and besides the last hole I think I was in the running for 1st place....however, an 11 on one hole does not help the score. I do believe that Jon and Dad ended up tieing with the same score after 9 holes. Sorry no pictures....
Then on Saturday Jon's mom and dad came up for the day and all 6 of us went biking over on the East side of the Metro. It was a great day for biking and was the 1st time out on a real ride for most of us. The funny thing about our ride was at one point when we stopped I noticed this inch worm type bug on Joel's shoulder.....then someone said hey wait there is another. The more we started looking these little inch worm caterpillar things were on all of us. Come to realize, these caterpillar worms were hanging from the trees as we rode by and we were riding right into them. I think it gave all of us that creepy crawling feeling. When we got home we had a nice cookout and then relaxed by the campfire.
Sunday was race day so my dad watched the race while Jon, mom, and I did some errands. Late afternoon we headed downtown on the light rail to the Metro Dome for the Twins/Brewers game. We went down early to grab something to eat and take in the people watching. The game was fun with Jon & I in our Twins gear and Mom & Dad donning their Brewers tees. Somewhere in the 6th inning we got an extra show from one of the fans in left field who decided to jump into the field and start running toward home plate....although he did not get far before he was tackled by all the security guards. It did not take much as this guy was definitely intoxicated. The game ended with the Twins being victorious over the Brewers.

Baby Update - week 16

So things seem to be going good thus far over here in baby land. I had my 16 week appointment with the Dr. on Tuesday and according to her everything is looking & sounding great. Heartbeat was in the 140-150 range. My weight, I guess it progressing fine, only 4 pounds on at the moment, but the way the weight has shifted on this body it feels like a heck of a lot more.

This week I can honestly say my pants no longer can be buttoned, but long stretchy tank tops & the bella band have come in very handy. Yesterday, I wore a button down shirt that had to be tucked in, so I tried to maneuver the rubber band thing, however that doesn't work so well with business pants. I guess I will no longer be tucking shirts in.

Thursday night, Jon and I went to the Just Between Friends consignment sale in Woodbury. A little bit on JBF is that they are a bunch of parents that get together to consign their gently used baby items. Sales are city wide, so there have also been sales in other metro cities as well, however by the time I found out about JBF, all the 1st time parent nights were full. You have to sign up a head of time. The only one that was still open was the one in Woodbury.

Therefore we went to Woodbury for the 1st time parents only night and I am sure glad that we went right when it opened at 6:30, there was a ton of people and things were going like crazy. Of course, given that we are not going to find out the sex of our baby, I was looking more for just maternity wear. Jackpot!!! I found 3 pair of business pants, a pair of jeans, a dress, 3 work shirts and got all of this for $65. Whoo hoo!

I took a picture at 14 weeks 1 day and then again today at 16 weeks 2 day (so long nice tight abs):

Hanging with my buddy

Thursday night Kate & Patrick had a dance performance to attend, so they asked if I would come over to watch Conner for the night. Oh definitely yes, I had a good time hanging with my little buddy Conner and told him all about the new little buddy or girlfriend he would get to meet come November.

House updates

This past weekend Jon and I were busy working on a bunch of little house projects. I put the 3rd & final coat of paint on the garage door (the other 2 coats were done last fall), painted the front & side doors red, and put up new red shutters. Jon assisted me with the shutters, but the rest of the day was hard at work putting in our 2 new basement windows on the north side of the house. Not only did he put the new windows in but put all the trim work on both the inside and outside. It looks great.
Here are a before and after of our house with the new painted doors (hard to see) and the shutters:

Mother's Day Weekend

Here are a few pictures from Mother's Day weekend. Jon and I went down to Waseca for the weekend to spend time with his mom as well as the rest of the family. Melissa and Emma drove up for the weekend as a Mother's Day surprise.

Sunday we had brunch with most of Jon's extended family at grandma & grandpa Rieck's house. Miss Emma was napping when we ate lunch so when it was her turn to eat she used my lap a a booster. Plus she needed some assistance getting that pesky egg bake onto her fork.

Emma also liked to wear whomever's shoes or slippers were sitting near by. Here she was trudging around in my slippers. I don't think they fit quite yet.

I can hear the wedding bells....

Tonight, as part of my PA (personal attendant) duties and just because I really loved wedding planning and wedding excitement, I went with Amanda to try on her wedding dress! This was her first time to try it on since it just recently came in. Although being a little big in a few areas, it looks gorgeous!!

She chose a design and color that looks fabulous on her. Sorry I can not divulge more information than this as we don't want to spoil the surprise for her big day.

Amanda and Jerad will be getting married on September 19th 2009.
Pictures to come after that date. :)

BIG NEWS ~ Our first little Weblet

Well another reason that there have been a lack of posts lately is because I have have been really tired and at night just not up for sitting at my computer another minute to update the blog. Reason for the tiredness.....We're pregnant!
Jon and I have actually known for quite awhile, since March 21st, but of course we were not ready to share it with the world until more recently. I kind of thought something might have been up since I have been taking my waking temperature since last fall and sometime in early March I saw a temperature shift and then of course never got my monthly gift. Actually its been quite a long waiting process since I have not had had my monthly gift since last October.....yes its been awhile. ANYWAY~ Saturday morning on March 21st I took a test and the result was a double blue line. Positive. However....still not quite sure, we went and bought another one and took that one too. This one was more definitive. Pregnant!
So the next week I saw my primary care provider whom as well confirmed the positive result. Okay, if you say so, I guess I am pregnant. That has to be the weirdest feeling in the world, you don't feel like anything has changed, but someone tells you that there is another human being growing inside of you. Interesting.
Well my PCP does not do pre-natal, so I had to go find a different OB-GYN to have all the pre-natal appointments, etc. I ended up choosing a clinic right near our house that is affiliated with Fairview Southdale hospital. I had my first appointment with the OB nurse to get all my information in the system and then on April 28th Jon and I had our first appointment with the OB doctor. We both really like her. She too went over our history and a lot of information, but then asked if we wanted to hear the heart beat. Definitely! Well she start moving the "thing" over my belly for what seemed like 5 minutes and we did not hear anything.....we were getting nervous and I think she was too. But then, deep inside she found it and we all breathed a sigh of relief. I had failed to mention to her that at my last annual appointment my doctor had told me that my uterus is tipped back, so it is farther away from the front of my belly. HENCE, it was a lot harder to find the little peanut.
Then she too asked me to verify the date of my last menstrual cycle, again I said October 2008, and just like everyone else I have told she said "are you sure?". Um, yes ma'am, I think I would remember this. I told her as well that I have been taking my temperature and I knew the date that my temperature shifted, hence ovulation, hence close to conception. But she wanted some more proof as to how far along I was. So she said, I think we need to do an ultra sound. I was not going to complain with that since I really wanted to get a glimpse of our little peanut to make it all more real. As a side note based on my temperature shift, I estimated my own due date as November 15th.
So off to ultra sound we went...the ultrasound tech woman was also super nice, you could tell she really loved her job. She tried first to take the ultra sound normally on my belly, but because the peanut is so far back, she was unable to get any good pictures. Therefore, I had a internal ultrasound, which meant we were able to get really good pictures of peanut. Everything looked great and based on their calculations my due date is November 12th. Here is a 11 week 5 day picture of our little Weblet or our little peanut.

Baptism & Confirmation

This past week Jon and I were out at Home Depot picking up a few things when he got a call from his aunt Christie. She must have asked if we were busy on Wednesday night, which Jon had a networking thing for work, but I did not really have any plans. I was thinking she was asking us to watch their dog, so I was nudging Jon over hearing only 1/2 of the conversation saying you don't have to cancel your plans, tell her I can watch the dog. Well Jon told her he would talk to me and call her back. So when he got off the phone I was puzzled. Little did I know, Christie had asked Jon if he and I would be Courtney's God parents!

Courtney was never baptised as a baby and this weekend she was now coming up on her Confirmation. Therefore, she wanted to get baptised before getting confirmed. So Wednesday night Jon and I went down to Waseca to represent Courtney as her God parents as she was baptized. It was a fairly quick ceremony, but nice.

Then Saturday Courtney had her confirmation in Lakeville. They recently joined a new church that has a large congregation. There were roughly 250 kids in Courtney's confirmation class, however, they split the ceremony up in 2 large groups. It was a really nice ceremony, where each of the packs (classes) went up together and then parents & God parents were able to come up and lay a hand on the confirmand as they were blessed. After her ceremony, we headed to the Hayes' house for a late lunch with the rest of the family.
