Road Trip #2

This weekend we were able to see Melissa and Mark who were in Omaha for the week. Mark's grandma passed away so they were back spending time with his family. Jon and I decided to travel to Omaha to spend some time with them as well, since we have not see them since our wedding last August.

Although is was a quick trip it was great to see them both as well as see how Melissa has grown. (baby due Nov 17th) Saturday night the baby was moving quite a bit so both Jon and I were able to feel our little niece or nephew being active.

We stayed at Mark's brother Jeremy's house and for some reason Bailey liked laying on his curtains in the living room.

Every time we get together with Mark & Melissa it makes us wish that they lived closer to MN than Seattle as we enjoy hanging out and spending time with them.

Kickball Champions Again!

Well another season done and another championship on record. We had our last game for the Spring/Summer kickball season through the Minneapolis Park & Rec last night and ended the season 11-0. Last nights game was by far the most competitive as we played the 2nd place team and narrowly won 2-1. They were great at kicking down the 3rd base line.
Kayla pointed out to me last night that this was probably our 5 championship in a row! Not that our team is all-stars, I think we just play heads up and play real well together. Also, its funny that we have done so well as we have switched leagues and nights over the last few years.
Fall league is right around the corner and C-TEK (Commitment to Excellent Kickball) will be rearing to go. :)

Road Trip

Last weekend Jon and I took a road trip from Minneapolis to Denver, CO for a business conference. We left Minneapolis about 5:00 on Friday and with a short stop in Waseca to drop the dog off and one in Kearney, Nebraska to pick up Jon's dad, we made it to Denver at about 6:00 am on Saturday morning.

I took the first leg of the trip and therefore was able to sleep on and off through out the night. Lucky girl. But the boys were up pretty much all night, so it was great that we were able to check into the hotel at 6:00am so they could get some shut eye for a few hours.

The conference was called Nelsen Family Reunion and is one of the 4 major functions a year that we have with our friends & mentors for our online business. The function is such a refreshing weekend to dream build and to be with some awesome people.

The conference ended on Sunday about 5:30, so we were back on the road home by about 6:30. On Sunday night we were not as ambitious to drive all the way home and decided to stop in Nebraska to sleep for a few hours before continuing on home. After picking up the dog we were pulling into our driveway by about 2:00pm on Monday. It is so crazy to think that you can travel miles and miles in just one day.

Everyday when I come home from work Bailey and I have play time until Jon is done working.

Project weekends

The past two weekends we have not had anything planned, so both weekends turned into project weekends at home.

My project for the last 2 weeks has been refinishing two pieces of furniture. Jon's grandpa had found these pieces at an auction so Jon could have some furniture at his college apartment. There is a dresser and a vanity that were painted a brownish green color. Sorry I do not have a picture of either item prior to taking the paint off....I kind of forgot that part.

I am not quite finished with the dresser yet...still one more coat of paint and then I also need to drill holes for the new hardware.

Jon's project was to do the two retaining walls on the north side of the house. These were much smaller than the walls around the egress windows...but Jon wanted to do smaller versions of the walls on the north side as well to keep everything looking similar.

Jon's other project was to clean out the carburetor on the motor cycle. Our motorcycle has been out of commission for over a year, but he has not had a place to work on it when living in an apartment so its been waiting. However, even after taking it apart and cleaning all the mechanisms, it still does not want to run right. We will have to take it in. Bummer, so no rides in the near future for us.

For the 4th of July we went down to Jon's parents in Waseca to have a camp out with the extended family. On the way down Tuesday night we went through some stormy weather, but it was clear skies later on in the evening to keep us dry in the tent. There was actually a few storms that went through in the early evening, one right when we tried to have dinner outside on the deck, but this storm included some hail.

After the rain went through Bailey found a hole full of water and decided it would be a great place to play.

On the 4th, Bob brought his boat out to St. Olaf Lake and we all enjoyed some time playing in the water. What a nice day the 4th turned out to be. Bailey loved swimming in the water... she could do it all day if we let her.

Camping in Chippewa Falls

Last weekend we went camping just outside Chippewa Falls with my parents. This was Bailey's first camping experience. On Saturday, Jon, Dad, and I stopped the the Leine's Lodge to see what new apparel they had. Well at least I did....Jon and dad just enjoyed the taste testing.

On Sunday we took the dogs for a bike ride to a small town called Anson. The town had this huge Eagle near the river there....hence the picture. The dogs did well riding in the kid carrier for the trip.

Country USA - Sunday - Our last night

Sunday is always kind of the sad day as many people have to work on Monday morning and therefore do not stay on Sunday night. The 5 day festival was closed on Sunday night by Little Big Town at 8:00 and Alan Jackson at 9:30. I was excited to see LBT as they are a fairly new band and have a bunch of great songs. Also, I was unexpectedly please with AJ, I was expecting him to play mostly slow songs, but it was pretty up beat. Holly & Jason, Ashley & Loraine and our neighbors from Stevens Point all stayed the night so we still had some fun once the concerts were all over. Here are a few pics from the closing day.

On the left it was cute to see Kelly & James & baby listening to AJ. On the left post concert our neighbors were seeing who could break more 2x2 stakes with their body. It was hilarious.

Country USA - Saturday - Cowboys & Corn

This year we had Craig (Kelly's cousin) camping with us and each year at Country USA Craig grills up some corn on the cob. Usually we have to go visit his site when he cooks corn, but this year we were lucky enough to have him staying at our site. Therefore, Saturday became Cowboys & Corn night. Jon really enjoyed the corn....he still had much of it stuck in his teeth. :)

Jason, Jon, Craig, and I went into the concert at 4:30 to listen to Emerson Drive, which was good but it was so hot due to the lack of wind in the festival site. Good thing we had a cool one with us.

Saturday night head liner was Montgomery Gentry and was my favorite night of the weekend. MG puts on a great show and has some great music. Here is peek at Saturday's fun~
