Day 5 - Country USA

Sunday this year was very mellow in comparison to previous years. Mark & Melissa had to head back to MN since their flight left early on Monday morning. Also, Craig, Kim, Grandma, and Gloria all headed home as well. Holly, Jason, Jon and I had all originally planned to stay on Sunday night, however, with potential for rain and the lack of excitement for the Sunday line up Holly & Jason also decided to head home in the afternoon.

This year they decided to do an old school theme for Sunday and the line up included Ray Price, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, and George Jones. Jon and I were going to stay on Sunday night just the two of us...however we went in to listen to the music for awhile and it was very old school. Also, there were not very many people in the festival, at least in comparison to the previous 4 nights. With that, the fact that the camper finally dried out, knowing we were going to have to be heading back to MN early Monday morning...we too decided to head back to Appleton for Sunday night. This was probably good because we had time to clean out the camper and then spend some time with my mom & dad. Once we got the camper packed away back in the garage...we all headed to the DQ! Yummy!

Day 4 - Country USA

Saturday again we stayed in Oshkosh all day versus heading back to Appleton. Mark had a great idea to go get some breakfast somewhere near by and Craig suggested the truck stop that was down the road. So 8 of us jump in vehicles to head down to the truck stop. It was pretty busy when we got there, but we were able to find 2 booths in the side room. It seemed to take forever but we did get an order in...and then the waiting began. One would think that breakfast food would be quick & easy to make, but for some reason this place was having some issues. I think an order would come out of the kitchen only every 5-10 minutes. It was bad. We ended up waiting about 1 hour 45 min for our food. We joked with Holly, Jason, Craig & Kim at the other booth because we got our food and they were still waiting figuring theirs was not far behind. Wrong. We ate....got & paid our bill...went to the bath room....and they still had not gotten their order. Kim was so hungry she was eating the jelly out of the little packs on the table. In the end they gave up and left without getting anything to eat.

The temperature on Saturday was much cooler than the previous few days because of the storm that went through the night before. Again, Saturday was somewhat over cast and in the afternoon we watched another storm roll through. This was was not as bad as the night before...but still had some powerful wind gusts. Once the storm passed about 5:00 the sun came out and the remainder of the evening was quite nice, but cool.

We have had the same neighbors across the road from us for the past few years and they are completely awesome. Saturday night they deep fried a turkey and bread sticks. They always have more than they need to they invite us over to help eat it all. I think all of us really liked the turkey...especially Craig. :)

With the fun we had on Friday night playing 40 hands, we decided to do it again on Saturday night. This time we just hung around our campsite area. This night the big winner of the game was Craig. After we finished that game...we decided to drink the remaining whap that was left from Thursday by filling up a Boone bottle and doing cannonballs until it was gone.

Saturday nights shows included Blake Shelton and a great show by Brooks & Dunn.

Day 3 - Country USA

Friday was pretty much overcast all day and the rain held off until later in the evening. A huge storm came through Oshkosh about 11:00 that night, while Kenny Chesney was on stage. We could see the lightning getting closer and closer and it is a good thing that most of us made it back prior to the storm hitting because it was a big one. Everyone was holding down the canopy and the shade tent. We had checked the weather earlier in the day while at my parents house so we knew that a big storm was possible. To prepare we put a large tarp from the camper around the shade tent and I am sure glad we did because the rain was pretty much coming down sideways but we all managed to stay relatively dry. :)

Prior to going into the concerts on Friday our whole group played Edward 40 hands....even Grandma and Gloria played! This game had become a tradition to play every year and it turns into quite a spectacle. We tend to tape up and then walk around the camp ground. All our neighbors take pictures and quite a few people stop us to see what we are doing. Jason was the big winner on Friday night however on the other hand...I think I was the last one to finish.

Friday was also cameo day. Here are some fun pictures from the day/evening.

Day 2 - Country USA

In the past we have gone back to my parents house every morning to shower and get ready for the day...however now with the festival at the new site its a little more of a drive, so we decided to stay down at the festival for 2 days before heading back to Appleton. Well since we stuck around the camp site and festival grounds we started the day out with hot dogs for breakfast. Yummy! :)

During the day we hung out, walked around the festival, and again had more arts & crafts time...well at least I did. :) Also, I got to meet Bryan & Krissy's little guy Cayden. Bryan came by to drop some stuff off for him and Kris later in the evening. I think this helped Mark & Melissa have a little baby time as they were starting to miss Emma. Cayden is also such a happy guy. He was fascinated by my can coozie & my country USA bracelets. He wanted to put everything in his mouth...even my fingers.

Thursday we had the great idea to make Whap and believe me there was a lot of random stuff in there...but Holly did her magic and it tasted great! Also, Thursday night was the beginning of flip cup....to which there were many, many games played throughout the weekend.

I was very excited for the concerts on Thursday night since it was Miranda Lambert and then the headliner was Dierks Bentley. I would have to say that both of these concerts were really good.
In addition to Krissy & Bryan staying on Thursday night...Kim and Craig arrived to join us for the rest of the weekend. See more of Thursdays fun below.....Kim likes meat, Jon woke Mary from a nap, finishing the warm jello shots, chaps are still cool, Jon did not put a shirt on all day, first cannonball of the weekend, Miller Lite Leis, Holly tackled Jon in the concert (awesome).....and much, much, more. Thursday night was a great night.
