Appleton Weekend

This weekend we headed to Appleton for a fun filled & busy weekend. Saturday started out with an AM baby shower for Jon, I and Little Weblet with my family & friends. It was so nice to see everyone, show off the baby bump, and of course we were showered with some generous and amazing gifts. Two that top the list are from my totally talented mother and aunts, who have become fabulous quilters! The black, white, & colored quilt is from my aunts and then the Watch Me Grow wall hanging was made by my mom. The wall hanging matches our nursery perfectly!
Also, on Saturday was Oktoberfest in downtown Appleton. It has been years since I have been around to attend the event, which mainly comprises of walking, eating, people watching, drinking (for some), listening to bands, looking at arts & crafts, more walking, and more eating. It was a beautiful day downtown so there was a HUGE turn out....Jon took a picture down the street to get the full effect. We went downtown with my mom & dad, Pam & Greg, and cousin Kyle.


Then on Sunday we had attended another shower, this one was a Packer Wedding shower for my cousin Brian and his fiance Katie. They live in Florida and are getting married in Rochester, NY in October. Most people are unable to go to the wedding (including us, to close to baby time) so it was nice to be able to see them and wish them well on their wedding.

Congratulations, Mr & Mrs. Barker

This weekend was Jerad and Amanda's wedding... They had beautiful weather for their wedding, which made for some amazing photo opportunities, however being Amanda's personal attendant, I did not get my camera out as much as I thought I would since I was assisting with other things. I did manage to catch a few photos throughout the day, but can not wait to see some of the professional photos since they looked great from my perspective!

We started the day with photos out a park, then came back to the church for more photos, the ceremony was at 3:30, stopped for a quick celebration drink, and then on to the reception for dinner & dancing. All of the details added up to such an amazing day and everything looked great!

Jon was a big hit with Andrea's (one of the bridesmaids) 3 kids....little Collin was very excited & happy to share Jon's cake and then the twins (Jordyn & Kyle, who were the flower girl & ring bearer) loved having Jon play with them on the dance floor. He was the hit of the party with the little ones. :)

32 Week appointment

This week we had our 32 week doctor's appointment and got a little bit of a scare...

The doctor did the normal belly measurement and said that I had gone down in size, which would be abnormal. She said that 2 weeks ago I measured 29 cm and then this week I was only 27 cm. She said it could be a few different things, but one being that the amniotic fluid was low, which would be something serious. Therefore, we had to schedule an ultrasound this week as well, to get measurements of my amniotic fluid.

Our ultra sound was on Thursday morning and to our relief all the fluid levels and measurements looked good to the technician. I guess normal range for amniotic fluid is 5 - 25 and mine was around 15, so there was no worries there. Also, the heartbeat and all other measurements looked good. She did have a difficult time getting Weblet's head measurement, as it was head down, so the angle did not work so well, but what she did get was in the acceptable range. Also, we could see that Weblet does have some hair!!! No wonder I have heartburn & acid reflux all the time!

We did get 2 new pictures, however, they are just arm pictures, so nothing too exciting. Its amazing how now our little Weblet no longer fits on her screen, we can only look a different parts one at a time.

Another project weekend

This weekend Jon's mom & dad came up to help us with some projects. Jon and his mom painted the baby room, Jon's dad mowed & aerated our lawn for us, and then we all worked on making more salsa! Thank you, thank you, thank you Joel & Betty for helping us out. The baby room is really starting to take shape!

Since the gender of little Weblet is still a suprise the baby room is being changed from a light aqua color to a Red Pomegrante & Melted Butter....here are the before & afters. We still plan to add a chair rail, but it is coming along.

Baby Shower

Tonight I had my first baby shower, which was hosted by my friend Kris, with assistance from Sarah and Amanda. It was a small gathering of friends & co-workers that live in the cities, and we were blessed with some fun & amazing gifts from them. Jon attended with me and I think it was another realization that this is really happening, since we are now receiving gifts from people.

Amanda made a diaper cake for us, which was full of baby supplies & toys. The funniest was that the duck because it made a cute quacking noise....well at least the 1st time I pressed the belly. Then the 2nd time, it started sounding a little funny, and by the 3rd squeeze it was squalling like it was being tortured! I think the battery was wearing out. We all had a pretty good laugh at it because it was not something that would soothe a baby.

Another favorite part of the shower was the cake....to be exact, an ice cream cake! It was a jungle theme for our little weblet. Thank you to all our friends that were able to come and for all the wonderful gifts.

I will be seeing Melissa again in the beginning of October, so we will have to do another comparison to see how the babies are growing.

Salsa, Salsa, & more Salsa

For Labor Day weekend, Jon, Bailey, and I made the roughly 7 hour trek down to Kansas City to visit Mark, Melissa, and Emma. Mark had to work during the day on both Saturday and Sunday, but we had plenty to do that day....we made Salsa....and lots of it.


With our garden in full bloom, we have been getting a ton of tomatoes, green peppers, jalapenos, and onions, which makes it perfect time to mix up some salsa. Over the past week or so, Jon and I have made some fresh batches at home, but with the ingredients that keep rippening in the garden we also wanted to can some up for months down the road. We had a smooth running operation take over the Gilmore kitchen on Saturday and made roughly 20 jars of salsa - both black bean & corn and zesty(hot) salsas. Plus then on Sunday we still had some left over ingredients, so we made a batch of fresh salsa to eat right away. Yum, Yum, Yum. Even Emma loved the salsa!
On Sunday we took a break from all this salsa making and heading to downtown KC for the Irish festival. There was a lot of great people watching opportunities, food, beer, music, and Irish dancers. I am amazed at the "kids" that do these Irish dances, they are very precise in their steps and you can tell that they have had alot of practice. It was pretty cool. Check out the green water they had in all the fountains!

30 Week Appointment

This week Weblet has been baking for 30 weeks, which now means I am going to the Dr. every other week to check on its progress. Again this appointment things are measuring great and this time Weblet's heart rate was between 130-140. Upon entering the room the Dr. was curious as to what may have happened the day of my last appointment because I got the positive result on the 1 hour glucose test and then had to go through that 4 hour one, which then turned out negative. She said that there are no "real" worries in regards to that however, people who tend to test positive on the 1 hour exam still seem to have bigger babies.

Dang it ~ I told her I was going for more like a 6 or 7 pounder with a small head. To this she just laughed at me and told me well then you should have married a small asian man versus a big strapping caucasian man like Jon. (Honey, that's props to you!) Her prediction, although it is still early, given that both Jon and I are both taller, she believes we will be meeting a 8 to maybe 9 pound Weblet come November. But at the moment we are all glad that everything is going okay and that the kidney stones have not made a return.

Also, exciting as this is I had to get my 1st flu shot ever. I don't think I have ever had the flu and therefore had never received a flu shot in years past, especially since I am not a fan of needles. This year given the prediction for flu cases and the fact that I am pregnant, they have all pregnant women get not only the annual flu shot but then also the H1N1 shot when that comes available in October. Oh yeah~ something to look forward to at one of my next appointments.

Infant CPR

In preparation for Weblet's arrival tonight we had our first class at the hospital ~ Infant & Child CPR. It is definitely interesting practicing on plastic babies/kids, but now both Jon and I feel much prepared in the unfortunate case that we encounter a child in distress.

September will be a very busy month for us in regards to baby classes....we just had the CPR class, we start our 6 week Labor & Delivery class, we have a car seat class, and a breast feeding class. I want to feel & be as prepared as possible, if that can ever happen.
